What A View!
Riverside Motel is a fantastic place to stay in Stanley Idaho. The accommodations are very comfortable with phenomenal views. Rooms are extremely clean.
The staff at the Motel go above and beyond to exceed guest expectations. We are repeat visitors and will continue to stay at the Riverside when in Stanley

Wish I could live there . . .
My experience with the Riverside has been nothing BUT positive. There is no better place, other than a riverside camp site, to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the environment.
The upper deck is well worth the extra $. The rooms are well taken care of, beds super comfortable and everything is as clean as I would expect. I have been in 4 star major metropolitan hotels that could take notes from the staff at the Riverside regarding cleanliness and comfort.
I appreciate even more that the owners take such pride in the property and are so protective of the overall experience of ALL the guests. It is not at all the setting for a “PAAARRRRTTY!
Rustic charm and peaceful surroundings are definitely worth repeat reservations. The guests who are truly appreciative of this are respectful of others’ experiences.
Kudos to Patti and Frank for maintaining a “get away” environment and ambiance. I will return, especially since the commute to my job would be way too long…… if I did live there….sigh.
Best Place To Stay In Stanley
My second visit to the Riverside Motel in Stanley was even better than my first.
The owner, Patti, was able to accommodate a late change in plan flawlessly while still giving me a room in the main building right on the river on the gorgeous 2nd level with a large shared balcony (the 4 upstairs rooms share the upstairs balcony with each room having a table and 4 chairs allocated to them directly outside their door on the balcony) right on the west bank of the Salmon River.
The downstairs rooms have a slightly deeper balcony, but I will take the upstairs anytime I can get it. Facing east, the morning light streams in but the best is the afternoon sitting upstairs in the shade (beverage in hand) watching osprey, bald eagles, hawks and other birds working the river and its surrounding banks.
The rooms are well equipped with a kitchenette that includes a sink, 4 burner electric range and a small refrigerator. The sink faucet has a PUR water filter to remove the somewhat disagreeable taste found in the local drinking water. There is geothermal activity nearby and the town does not filter it out, so I am glad that Patti installed these filters.
This time I had a room with 2 queen beds with lots of pillows and plenty of blankets since I was traveling with my adult son. For my previous stay, I had a king bed. Both were really comfortable but nothing can beat the sound of the place as the Salmon River rushes downstream over rounded river rock all day and night long drowning out any highway noise or neighbors. I will go back as often as I can.
They have 3 or 4 different buildings so be sure to ask for the one that is right on the water. There is nothing like it anywhere around.
Wonderful Place – The Best Beds!
I have never slept in a more comfortable bed- it’s a guaranteed good night’s sleep.
We intended to stay one night and camp but ended up staying three nights. Be sure to reserve the rooms facing the river.
The patio is such great place to sit and relax, you may not want to leave your chair. We found the kitchenette to be convenient.
The motel is a few minutes walk to the small town of Stanley, a beautiful place at the base of the Sawtooth Mts.
We highly recommend the Riverside Motel.

A Favorite and a Kitchen to Boot
We loved the Riverside Motel, particularly the deck, which features table and chairs, so we could have our dinner outside and watch the Salmon River run directly below us. Yes, it is that close to the water.
We rented a rubber ducky type kayak from Riverside Motel and had an enjoyable 2 hour float on the 7 mile stretch between the motel and Mormon Bend. (It’s helpful to pack shoes that can get wet.) The river is quite shallow and not dangerous. In fact, the only problem is ensuring to lift the derriere up when it’s shallow and rocky in order not to get grounded.
This is a great base for wonderful hikes in the Sawtooth Wilderness around Redfish Lake or farther down the road at Hellroaring Creek.
Relax and enjoy this place . . .
I have stayed at the Riverside several times. I travel to Stanley on both business and pleasure. The hotel is clean, quiet, nicely appointed and well maintained.
There is a large deck that guests can enjoy overlooking the Salmon River and with great views of the Sawtooth Mtns. As kayakers float by we always wave.
I have come to know the owners well and have seen them deal with riff-raff. People that travel to Stanley on vacation sometimes feel that they can get away with otherwise, unacceptable behavior just because they are far from home.
I appreciate that the owners ensure that when I go to Stanley to relax, I can.
Beautiful Views on the River
This seems to be the best spot to stay in Stanley. The deck from our room is right on the river with spectacular views in every direction. The room was clean and comfortable. The town is so small you can walk anywhere from your hotel room.

The Best Place To Stay In Stanley Idaho
We arrived in Stanley expecting to stay approx. 3 days as part of a hunting trip. We ended up spending 11 days at the Riverside.
The valley in which Stanley resides is the best single spot we have found in the mountain west in 40 years of hiking, hunting and fishing. The Riverside is extremely comfortable and hospitable as only an owner operated business can be.
Patti and Frank are gracious and extremely knowledgeable about the area, Frank has been guiding on the Salmon for 35 years, and knows the entire region intimately.
Our room was oversized with fully equipped kitchenette and a totaly silent heat system. Luxurious beds and even sat tv. The back door leads to a large well appointed deck from which you can fish in the Salmon river while enjoying spectacular views.
We will return next year before deer/ elk season and spend at least 10 days.We have a long list of destinations within 40 minutes of our front door at the riverside yet to be visited.

Perfect Ending to a Perfect Vacation
What a wonderful place to stay! The room was clean and very comfortable. Felt like being at home! Could not have asked for a more relaxing place to stay. Patti and Frank make sure that all of your needs are taken care of!
We liked it so much, we stayed an extra day! Whether you want to be busy doing activities or just lounging around, this is the place to be!
Your room is right on the river. Most places tell you it’s right on the river but its still a five minute walk. Not here. It could not be any closer. Outdoor furniture and deck are in perfect condition. Potted plants make it look “like home” If you want a relaxing place to get a way from it all, this is the place!!! I’m going back!

The place to stay in Stanley! Majestic Sawtooth Mtn Views on the Salmon River
We visit Stanley every summer and winter for the past 20 years, and look forward to staying here! The owners are wonderful and the rooms are extremely well cared for and tastefully put together. The property just delightful and well-cared for.
You can’t beat the location, the tranquility and peacefulness of the river setting is beyond description.
You don’t want to be up in town when the bars empty out… stay here where it is delightful, peaceful and safe.
If you are looking for a quiet environment, the atmosphere at the Riverside is precious and rare in the hotel industry today. You won’t have to deal with ill-behaved, loud or unsupervised children like at other hotels, Frank and Patti really care about the comfort and the experience of their guests, they go out of their way to ensure our stay is a pleasant and memorable one.
Right on the river
I did a lot of investigating on what motel (no hotels in Stanley) to stay at. I can only say how satisfied I was that I choose The Riverside.
Not only are you right on the river but standing out on the balcony listening to the river was just what you expect when you want to get away. Patti and Frank (the owners) were so welcoming and answered all our questions.
The rooms were very nice, clean (daily maid service) and ours had a frig, micro and stove. This was nice for a relaxing breakfast or a quick lunch. Walking distance to town, then again Stanley is not that big. I would definitely return. Was a little more pricy than some of the other places but clearly worth it. We went up there for fly fishing.
